One of the huge mysteries in the martial arts world is the question of Chi (Ki in Japanese). Chi is supposedly responsible for building mysterious energy in martial artists which enables them to do superhuman feats. Stories of martial artists breaking stones, putting out candles from across the room, and even causing death in an opponent over great distances. The problem here is that most of these tales of superhuman abilities are unverified. Sure, people can break bricks, rocks, coconuts, and so on, and I've even seen people put out candles with a punch, and I mean from across the room. But killing somebody from twenty feet without even touching them...hey, I'm still alive! This doesn't disprove the fact of Chi In my eyes and thought, however.

As a matter of fact,tThe things I have seen over time have made me a firm believer in the existence of Chi. Unfortunately, there so many people who do not understand the concept of Chi in our society that their group beliefs alone would cause a a serious stunting of development of Chi in the individuals of mankind On the level of the immediate body, Chi is the source of energy, and this source is located about two inches below the navel. One can grow this energy, on this level, through the simple practices of proper diet, eliminating our sins, exercising properly, and following a generally healthy lifestyle.

What one gets, for following this lifestyle, is resistance to sickness, good health into old age, and a cheery outlook on life. On the level at which most people think when they are thinking of superhuman feats, the mysterious level of Chi, Chi is a matter of properly cultivated thought. This level is developed through disciplined methodologies which enable us to go beyond what we consider is humanly possible. In actuality, this disciplined thought is the fact of lowering the radio static quality of think in our minds, and leaving us with the calm of no static, which is who we really are. Let us say that our friend Joe Blow practices a true and tried type of chi cultivation, which would be a martial art that is not a recent put together, and has not been robbed of the power inherent in its design and propagation.

Through this disciplined methodology Joe Blow starts doing purely by becomes intent on what he is doing, which is to say that he stops thinking extraneous thoughts while he is doing whatever he is doing. The excess distractions in his mind lessen, and the fact that he is a human is pushed into the background, and he starts to realize the truth of who he is without a body. Some people, during the practice of pure discipline, even experience their existence from outside the body. It doesn't matter how a person experiences this phenomena, they are still left with the truth of who they are...and it is this truth which enables them to perform superhuman deeds.

Al Case loves the martial arts and writing. He is a good enough natured fellow, unless you start talking about the government (grrr). He has a 115 pound chocolate lab that sits on him, and his website is AlCaseBooks.com.
