50,000 Cattle Guards to Lose Their Jobs-Not Even Joe Biden Can Save Them!

With the economy in such a downturn, with so many people out of work, when this bit of news came to my attention I knew I would have to write an article. Dutifully, I began my research, and found it was a Snopes.

When Bill Clinton was President this item was first circulated.

The ranchers are upset because of an increase in grazing fees on public lands, and write angry letters to the white house. Slick Willy doesn’t appreciate the letters, and upon discovering that there are 100,000 cattle guards protecting public land, and tells his staff to tell the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) to fire half of the guards.

Upon hearing of this, Congresswoman Pat Schroeder demands of the White House that the cattle guards be retrained before being fired.

The problem is that cattle guards aren’t real people, they are the grates in the road that cows are afraid to walk on.

The version of the story that I read had updated the participants to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Well, I have to say that I love the story, even though, especially because, it is nothing but a joke. I could see hordes of righties inflamed across the US. And hordes of lefties counter inflamed. Maybe even a cattle guard union, massive protests, a real and for gosh shootin’ war over the whole thing.

The unfortunate truth, however, is that there is going to be a serious backfire to this story.

The BLM, you see, only charges $1.35 per cow for grazing for a year. This is incredibly cheap, helps keep the price of beef low, and on land that isn’t used for anything else.

But when politicians get ahold of this story, and when they get pushed around by the greenies for all the species being endangered by the grazing cattle (yes, there are a coupe of rodents and an owl that object to the grazing cattle), or when the politicians realize that they could squeeze more money out of tax payers by raising fees, then grazing fees will go up, the public will pay more for beef, vegans will laugh uproariously, and this joke will have had its sad effect.

That all said, I think the White house should hire a few of those out of work cattle guards to protect the White House.

I don't understand why this story is relevant. I don't get why the Vice President is responsible for the job security of cattle guards, of which there are probably too many, anyway. I guess reading the word "snopes" and the pejorative "slick willy" helps me to put this article into a more sensible perspective.
