22 Year Old Jared Laughner Was Upset With Illiteracy, So He Shot A Literate Person

It has been 24 hours since lunatic gunman Jared Laughner utilized a semi automatic at an Arizona mall, and things are starting to shake out a bit. Here are the things--right and wrong-- that strike me concerning this terrible incident.
The police were not there, so every news release has every cop from the dogcatcher to Obama praising the law enforcement agencies. They then refuse to say anything concerning the alleged shooter other than he was a troubled individual.
Hospital officials praised every doctor they never fired before letting a real doctor offer some interesting data: the bullet entered the temple and exited the forehead. Like most people I considered a head wound extremely discouraging, especially when they are talking about the same area addressed in a trans-orbital leukotomy, but when the bullet stays in one hemisphere of the brain there is no cross bleeding (I think I got this right) and the brain stays functional. This is good news for Congresswoman Giffords.
Speaking of Congresswoman Giffords, initial prognosis for her condition were encouraging, and this is good. A blue dog democrat, she walked the difficult line between liberal and conservative. Though some may find fault with her voting pattern, it is obvious that she was a representative who cared, and tried to find the right course in her life and public office.
That brings us to Jared Laughner. One of the morsels released concerning the young man is that the army refused to accept him for duty. This writer has to ask why?
No, we don’t want lunatics partying in the war zone. But noting that he was mentally unbalanced, the army should have taken him in, treated him kindly, and assigned him and others like him to a remote outpost where he would have had solid work, and no chance to mingle with society. Just something to think about.
Now, conclusion...Congresswoman Gifford was responsible for reading the first amendment during a recent session of congress. It seems unusually cruel that she would be shot while exercising those rights, and while trying to actually connect with her constituents and thus do a better job. And, it is this writer’s opinion that people who take advantage of her dire situation to praise their office, grab a sound bite, or push an agenda, should be ignored, chastised, and perhaps let to do less stressful work in other occupations.
Well wishes to Congresswoman Gifford.

Obviously you've had very little contact with Rush or Beck.Let me know what they said, specifics. I will be glad to change my mind. Thanks for commenting. AlHere are two:
From the May 17 broadcast of The Glenn Beck Program:
BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.
Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95
"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus - living fossils - so we will never forget what these people stood for."
This is a little more than encouraging people to vote, and there are plenty more statements like these.Nicely done. You haven't convinced me, but looking at these quotes as they are you have made your point. Al
