Does Google Alter Statistics in a Giant Bottom Line Conspiracy?

The Google Slap has been directed at Article Directories. One must ask why. Well, unless you believe in government conspiracies, the reason is going to be bottom line. Simply, Google is going to make more money by shutting down competition. This is a weird concept, because the article farms were actually causing great revenue, putting America back to work, relieving the 21st Great Depression. Still, google must think it is going to make more money down the road, or it is just following orders in a vast conspiracy.
And, I closed the page, woke up the next day, and the statistics were different.
I blinked, relooked, and realized that google had changed all the green blips following their statistics. Why would they change the statistics?
Because google wanted to make it look like there wasn’t a high degree of competition for keywords.
This is actually an easy thing to do. If you want to make a statistic alarming, or less alarming, simply focus on a part of the graph, and you change the degree of slope of the line, and the public is going to be alarmed, or not alarmed, depending on which way you made the line slope.
And it looked like Google might have done this to all their statistics, but through their blips.
Obviously, they didn’t like the statistic.
What was the statistic showing?
And here is where it gets interesting.
At first I thought the statistic was showing too much competition, and that they wanted people to think there wasn’t as much competition, and so encourage them to buy more advertising. But I started digging, and I found out that the plot was a little more convoluted.
I checked all the statistics for my sites.
Hmmm. Nothing.
Then, the last site I had, a little set and forget that had been running without attention for months. The price of the advertising had gone up.
But there was no competition.
I actually had no competition for that site, or for the ad to that site.
But google said I had competition. Very expensive competition.
I googled and inspected the ads that appeared with my ad. They fit to the subject, but only by a slant. So google had lumped a bunch of ads in with my ad to cause competition.
And, they had changed the statistics to make it look friendly, all while doing the dastardly deed.
Can anyone spell ‘bottom line?”
How about ‘Greedy?’
Now, does google do it to everybody?
Yes.
They just don’t usually do it all at once.
They slip and they slide and they work their algorithms for their bottom line, and a big middle finger to any who question.
Recently, however, they did it to the article directories. And, they shut down a business that was working to restore the economy, getting people back on their feet, and generally contributing to the progress of humanity.
So, what do you do about a bad guy?
Before I tell you, I want to point something out.
Google is just a phone book.
It’s got some neat apps, but it is just a phone book.
And, they are altering the alphabet to monetize themselves. Nothing wrong with that, unless you realize that it has reached a point of accountability.
1) Go to a different phone book. Make Bing or Yahoo or something else your default.
2) Do not use Google browser or apps. Your data will be used against you.
3) Do not ad on google. This should be easy because google advertising does not work as well as other advertising.
4) Class action lawsuit. A thousand article directories together should be more than a match for google. If they are presented with a massive lawsuit for lost wages, or the chance to return the algorithms to a more honest setting, they will choose the algorithms.
5) Oversight. Transparency. I’m a little leery of this one, because I don’t want government involved. But...Freedom of Information should be applied to a company that has become a public utility.
Okay, the bottom line--our bottom line--is this...when a bad guy hits you, you should hit him back.
There are many ways to slap google, and it won’t take many slaps to wake that giant up, and even bring it to its knees.
Do you have your own story of how google has betrayed public trust? Write about it. Share it. Secure proof if possible.
